Next week, Iβll be speaking at The Ride AI Summit in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 2nd. So I wanted to share some more details about the event and why Iβm excited to be participating.
Autonomous vehicles have had their coming out party over the past year, and the industry is clearly experiencing a ton of momentum and growth. It has inspired me to start this very newsletter, and every week, it seems like there is no shortage of announcements, new developments, and partnerships to cover.
What I like about this AV cycle though is that itβs not all hype. Waymo is actually scaling paid driverless rides and other companies like Zoox and May Mobility in the United States are not far behind. Abroad, Chinese companies like Apollo Go have done over a million paid driverless trips (theyβre one company Iβm excited to hear from at the event) and there are dozens more up and coming.
Ride AI is the first conference focused on AVs that will be taking place since that inflection point and it reminds me of the micromobility wave that happened a few years ago. Coincidentally, the team behind Ride AI also founded the Micromobility conference so you can be sure that it will be a great venue, high quality programming and lots of great networking.
This yearβs summit will be taking place at NeueHouse Hollywood, which looks like an awesome location. And of course, you know Iβll be there for the rooftop after party to close out the night.
Iβll be moderating a panel at 3 pm titled βHailing The Future: Where Robotaxis and Ridehailing Go from Hereβ. And will be joined by Michael White, CPO at Zoox; Stephen Hayes, VP of Autonomous, Fleets, and Driver Operations at Lyft; and Sascha Meyer, CEO at MOIA.
Iβve never met any of my panelists in person but Iβm excited for this conversation as I think they each bring a unique point of view to the table. Zoox appears to be on the cusp of launching paid driverless rides in SF and challenging Waymo. Lyft has been slower out of the gate on the AV side but they have been making a lot of noise lately and they are the only ridehail company with actual experience managing, owning and operating a fleet of vehicles (via Flexdrive). And MOIA has been taking on AVs over in Europe, where thereβs extreme weather, stronger support for labor and a culture more open to shared rides/sustainability. So it should be an electric panel and discussion.
You can find the full agenda here and if youβre interested in attending, please use my link to get discounted tickets ($100 off) and I will receive a small commission (they donβt call me the referral king for nothing!).
Excited to see everyone there and feel free to come up and say hi at the event.

PS - Iβll also send out a preview for our Curbivore conference on 4/11, also in Los Angeles (itβs the place to be! βοΈπ΄), next week. AVs, Automation and AI are the big themes of this yearβs event and Iβll be moderating a keynote on Uberβs vision for the future of autonomous mobility and delivery.
